Each year on February 20th fans of cherry-filled pastries come together to celebrate National Cherry Pie Day.
Traditionally, this North American dessert calls for tart cherries (Morello is a preferred variety), but many versions have since surfaced, sporting decorated lattice crust and being served either à la Mode or with whipped cream.
How To Celebrate National Cherry Pie Day
Celebrate by shoving a slice of this famous dessert in the proverbial pie hole or better yet — bake up one of your own (recipe here) — and make sure to use #NationalCherryPieDay and/or #CherryPieDay when posting your sweet-tart snaps on social media.

Fun Fact: Katy Perry is a foodie!
Watch her team up with Tasty & Buzzfeed to make the “World’s Best Cherry Pie” and hear her dish on the many aspects cherry pie has played in pop culture and how she’s gone from Cherry Chapstick (“I Kissed A Girl”) to Cherry Pie and what that means for her in this life.
National Cherry Pie Day Playlist
Do you hear that?
It’s our official National Cherry Pie Day playlist calling your name!
Actually, it’s Warrant singing, “She’s my cherry pie…” still echoing in our brains from 1990.
But wait — there’s a lot more to the musical side of “Cherry Pie” than post-80s hair metal with images of bleach blondes sporting daisy dukes.
In our playlist, you’ll also find sweet (and tart!) contributions from notable female artists like Sade, Katzenjammer (we actually saw these Norwegian ladies performing on a street corner at SXSW a few years back!), Jennifer Lopez and Eden’s Edge!

Those are the Pie Rates of the Caribbean.
