OMG it’s hot out!
As June quietly slides into the distance the first week of July abruptly comes into focus, and does so with a roar.
Speaking of Mondays and roaring…
Lions International is hosting a charity event in Las Vegas starring Cirque du Soleil (and other local) artists and featuring music by Broken Spectacles, an Alternative/Pop Rock Band with members belonging to the Blind Center of Nevada. Definitely something worth checking out if you’re in the valley.
When you wake up the next day however, make sure and say something nice to yourself while staring into the mirror wishing you’d got more sleep yet feeling so very grateful for your sense of sight. You know, because it’s National Compliment Your Mirror Day and all.
Tuesday the 3rd is also the kickoff to part two of SummerFest 2018 aka THE WORLD’S LARGEST MUSIC FESTIVAL. Yes, you read that right. No, our keyboard didn’t get stuck. It’s just that impressive.
The fourth is also National Country Music Day, so get those cowboy boots out and practice your hootin’ n hee-haw’n. Or join us in putting on old Patsy Cline records and bawling our eyes out. We won’t judge.
Folks in Durham, NC also get the option of celebrating the 4th helping protect the Eno River basin by way of a totally rad music and arts festival. Lucky!
If you are this person, we’d like to buy you that apple turnover cuz you’re totally rocking our Thursday planner to the fullest.
We’re also shining a spotlight on the 30+ female artists performing at this truly unique festival, so go check ’em out and buy their records, or downloads, or snapchat filters or whatever else musicians have to do to survive these days. Hey, it’s tough out there! Support the arts, man.
Do you think Nancy Reagan liked fried chicken? Well, Friday’s her birthday and National Fried Chicken Day, which led us to consider paying homage over some crispy hot wings. Is that so wrong?
But the most important thing on your calendar that day should be to get yourself over to South Lake Tahoe for an evening of classic rock covers played by Grammy® Winning Harpist, Anne Roos, while tasting a selection of French Rosé and Chardonnay & Pinot Noir from California. It’s going to be awesome, no doubt.
In fact, research shows that nine out of ten angels recommend this slightly unusual yet unabashedly-rewarding pairing from on high.
Now, if both you and your father have tickets to the sold out Levitate Music & Arts Festival in Marshfield, MA, do yourself a favor and walk there together while eating a strawberry sundae so you can check off three of our top recommendations for Saturday, all at once.
The 8th is also National SCUD (Savor the Comic, Unplug the Drama) Day, so be like Mary J. Blige and just lay it out there for the haters: There will be NO MORE DRAMA IN MY LIFE.
