“I wasn’t in a hurry to take everything that came along. It’s pretty important to me to be proud of the work I do. I didn’t want to just be cute and on TV. I wanted to be funny.” —Kaitlin Olson
If it wasn’t perfectly obvious, Kaitlin Olson’s career as a funnywoman has been carefully plotted.
For someone who can also boast regular appearances on The Drew Carey Show, brief interludes on Curb Your Enthusiasm and even an appearance in Coyote Ugly, it’s clear that she certainly knows how to pick ’em.
When not in front of the camera, she can also be heard providing audible hilarity on shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers as well as in the feature film Finding Dory.
Heck, she’s even performed stand-up on a USO tour.
How many other comediennes can point to that on their resumes?
Not very many, that’s for sure.
I guess what I’m trying to say is — Happy Friggin Birthday, Kaitlin — thank you for all the laughs, and please don’t ever stop chasing your dream!
You hear that sound?
Could it be…???
<sizzle> <pop> <crack> <more sizzle>
Of course — it’s National Fajita Day!
Watch your hands when reaching over the cast iron to grab the bell peppers and skirt steak to stuff those taco shells with though, ‘cuz the steam might get’cha!
Have you ever found something in the least likely place?
Perhaps even a job offer while waiting in line at the DMV — hey, stranger things have happened!
Regardless of how incredible the circumstances, serendipity is all about that special something coming into your life from the least likely of places.
Celebrate the possibilities on Serendipity Day by being open to the best thing happening, despite how fate might appear to be playing out.
🇯🇲 Reggae in the Park – August 18 2018 (Philadelphia, PA; $29 – $129)
Did you catch my poor attempt at speaking Jamaican above?
And that reason just happens to bring us to Philadelphia on the afternoon of Saturday, August 18 2018 for the 7th Annual Reggae in the Park.
Doors (gates?) open at noon and the event kicks off @ the Mann promptly at 1PM.
I mean, where else in the country can you catch female-fronted reggae acts like Jah9, Jah People, I Yahn I Arkestra & Stassi Pryce all on the same bill as the legendary Toots & The Maytals PLUS modern mainstays SOJA and Chronixx?
Nowhere. That’s where.
Did I mention that it’s not just reggae that attendees will be taking in, but a day full of everything the vibrant Jamaican culture has to offer?
Tickets start at just $29 and children under 12 get in free with a parent.
I honestly can’t think of a better way to spend a late-summer Saturday afternoon in Philly.
Bless up yuh lovely people, we’ll catch ya inna di morrows for another edition of Ladies Looking Ahead — we see yuh lickkle more den!
